Sound Meets Style at Queensland Museum’s ‘Make a Scene’ Exhibition

Nightlife Music is proud to be providing the soundtrack and visuals for Queensland Museum’s ‘Make a Scene’, an original exhibition that shines a light on Brisbane’s vibrant LGBTQIA+ nightclub and dance party culture of the 1990s.

Featuring pieces from Mark Wilson’s Hairy Dog and Kenn Bushby and Chrissy Feld’s Glamourpussy labels, Make a Scene brings together fashion, pop culture and lived experiences to showcase the fearless creativity and diversity of the community.

To help bring visitors into this unique world, Nightlife Music has carefully curated music and visual elements that reflect the era. Our expertise in blending soundscapes with visuals ensures the atmosphere is both authentic and dynamic, setting the stage for a powerful and immersive experience.

With the Nightlife music and visuals up and running, Chris Salter (Head of Cultures & Histories, Queensland Museum and Make a Scene exhibition curator) said:

“The final install looks great… the clips and audio are adding such an important but uplifting layer to the exhibition experience for the audience.”

At Nightlife, we know that the right music and visuals can transform events and spaces, whether it’s an exhibition, a live event or a hospitality venue. From energising playlists to bespoke visuals, our solutions help create environments that connect with audiences and leave lasting impressions.

Nightlife Music’s Production Team Lead, Maurice Powell was part of the team working on the content for this exhibition. He also had the pleasure of attending the opening event on September 12, reflecting:

“The exhibition is such a fantastic platform to put on display what we do for the music video format. We’re passionate about music video, and do extensive work behind the scenes, particularly around digitally remastering, to make classic videos look amazing.

“Seeing these iconic videos blown up on a big screen and made a centrepiece for this exhibition is the perfect way to honour those artists and the visual and musical contributions they made to club culture in the 90s.”

Step back in time and immerse yourself in the fashions and sounds of a scene that continues to inspire today.

This free exhibition is open now—running until July 19, 2026.
