Brisbane music booming at MoB

Fourteen weeks in and with almost 10,000 song selections; High Rotation is going strong!

Since Museum of Brisbane launched the showcase, spotlighting 30 years of Brisbane’s music scene, Nightlife has been tracking the song picks.

Our technology is driving the screens and interactivity, with visitors using crowdDJ to discover and re-discover local artists.

Our founders even have the sketch of their first invention – the video jukebox – under glass as one of the many nostalgic and memory-evoking exhibits. It’s a nod to Nightlife’s own 30-year music journey, as captured by Bec Mac on opening night.

With four months until the exhibition closes, Museum of Brisbane’s local music extravaganza High Rotation has seen guests pick and play 9,690 songs from local artists.

The top 5 most selected tracks in order are:
1. Geronimo – Sheppard (298 plays)
2. My Happiness – Powderfinger (265 plays)
3. Girls Like That (Don’t Go for Guys Like Us) – Custard (255 plays)
4. Truly Madly Deeply – Savage Garden (237)
5. Untouched – The Veronicas (233 plays)

The most popular genre by far is Alternative followed by Pop/Radio, Rock and then Hip Hop.
