Novotel Cairns Resort makes splash with ‘dive-in’ technology

Novotel Cairns Resort has bedded its reputation as a leader in customer experience technology, making waves with Australia’s first interactive pool jukebox.

General Manager Scott Grant said staying at the forefront of innovation is a key focus of the resort.

“We were one of the first to introduce dine-in technology, now we have dive-in technology,” he said.

“It’s all about elevating and personalising a guest experience. People can use their mobile phone to tap and order a meal in-room and now just as easily they can choose the music they want at our Beach Club.”

The four ½ star Cairns lifestyle resort recently unveiled its multi-million-dollar refurbishment and is the first in Australia to introduce the ‘swim and spin’ tech.

“We have installed crowdDJ® at our swim-up pool bar, so you can pick a cocktail or a beer and select the songs you want to hear to accompany it. We’ve even upgraded our sound system to ensure we enhance the pool bar experience,” said Mr Grant.

“The music is spot-on to match the vibe we want of an endless summer and of course cater to our clientele both business and leisure, so it’s family-friendly, familiar and contemporary.”

crowdDJ is award-winning technology from Australia’s largest music technology company, Nightlife Music, that allows consumers to be part of a venue’s soundtrack via a mobile app or a touch screen kiosk with over 13 million songs picks a year.

CEO David O’Rourke said, “Nightlife is accomplished at curating music for hospitality whether background for hotel lobbies or more customised setlists for its fine dining or casual food and beverage outlets.”

“Novotel’s fresh application of crowdDJ speaks volumes about the Cairns resort’s dedication to a guest-first approach.

“Our technology will also be able to provide unique insights into the resort’s customers through song selections and the music data.

“We already know the most popular time of the day for music picks are Saturday at 3pm and the two most popular artists in September were Snoop Dog and Usher.

“There were also a lot of Bob Marley songs in the mix, which isn’t a surprise considering the holiday vibe of the tropical north, but there were some of the top 40 in there as well,” he said.
