Greta Van Fleet – artist of the month
Michigan rock band Greta Van Fleet released their debut album “Anthem of the Peaceful Army” at the end of October and sold more than 80,000 copies in its first week!
The four-member band formed in 2012 and consists of three brothers – vocalist Josh Kiszka, guitarist Jake Kiszka, bassist Sam Kiszka – and their drummer friend Danny Wagner.
GVF are clearly influenced by the tried and true sounds of Led Zeppelin and the Classic Rock era, even getting a nod from Led Zeppelin member Robert Plant himself. In March this year Plant cited Greta Van Fleet as one of his favourite up-and-coming bands in an interview, saying “They are Led Zeppelin I” and describing Josh as “a beautiful little singer”.
When talking about how the album has been received, Jake Kiszka said “Music has always been a centerpiece in all four of our lives, even when we were very young, when we first started hearing our parents’ blues, folk, and R&B records. So to be able to create the music we love, that so many people are hearing and responding to, is truly an honor.”
And we are loving the new album with throwback Rock vibes here at Nightlife. You can hear “Highway Tune” in our ROCK_OUT playlist, “When The Curtain Falls” in PUB_ROCK and select many more GVF tracks through crowdDJ!
