SUPPORT WHEN YOU NEED IT
At Nightlife we know that you’re busy and when you’re busy you need access to top and immediate support. For over 16 years Nightlife has been operating a 24/7 emergency support service to our clients. This service is provided by our Client Services Team, and here’s a run down on what you can expect:
Whether it’s signing up for another Nightlife system for a new area in your venue, or just upgrading to include a jukebox, all clients are allocated a Project Manager who will work closely with you throughout the commissioning, installation and training process.
Nightlife’s projects team have a sound knowledge of audio visual equipment and will liaise with your AV technician about all aspects of the installation. They are also fully briefed up on your music requirements and will tailor your system to suit your venue’s demographics.
Only once the Project Manager is completely satisfied that your system is properly installed and that you and your designated staff are fully conversant with its operation, they will hand you across to our Client Services or Technical Support Teams for any ongoing assistance that you may require.
| ONGOING MUSIC & TRAINING SUPPORT |
|
Nightlife’s Client Services Consultants are experts at ensuring your music stays relevant to any change in mood, style or demographic your venue may experience over time. They can advise you on how to maximise the benefits of your system such as explaining billboards functionality to assist you with your promotions and in-house marketing initiatives. Your staff and DJs will also benefit from the over-the-phone training services Nightlife offers.
| RESOLVING TECHNICAL ISSUES |
|
The HDMS™ has been specifically designed to allow technical issues to be diagnosed by our team over the phone and, in most cases, fixed by you under our guidance. In the event of a system or component failure, we offer clients a fast exchange service. Our national network of service
partners are trained on the Nightlife system so that should you wish, you may elect to employ a service partner to assist. Outside of normal office hours, a trained technical support officer is always available to help you with any urgent technical issues 24/7.
It is important for us to know that you are satisfied with your equipment and the way it is connected, and that your music is working for you, so we encourage you to let us know if you have any concerns. Contact us on 1800 773 468 - we’d love to hear from you.

MUSIC MUSE FOR YOUR VENUE
AVRIL LAVIGNE – ‘Girlfriend’ (Sony BMG) Released on RX132
Ms Lavigne returns to the scene this week a married woman but luckily her nuptials haven’t mellowed her any as she delivers this perfect, bubblegum pop-punk single, the first from her forthcoming record, The Best Damn Thing. Featuring many personas of Lavigne, the video is a playful and rollicking piece that sees her busting a move J-Lo style, something quite out of character for the “Punk Princess.”
OK GO – ‘Do What You Want’ (EMI) Released on CX132, JX116, DX65
The video of the week, no the month, undoubtedly has to go to OK Go – yes, again! Justifying their position as Kings-of-the-brilliantly-quirky-music-video and their recent Grammy-win for that innovative treadmill video (for ‘Here We Go Again’), these guys are incredible when it comes to video-making. This is their second go at making one for this track and while the first one wasn’t bad by any means, this “wallpaper version” is the worthy follow-up to their treadmill shenannigans. There’s crazy hula hoops, pogo stick backflips and most importantly, segways! You really have to see it to believe it!
VANESSA HUDGENS – ‘Come Back To Me’ (EMI)
Released on CX132, JX116
It sure didn’t take long for Vanessa Hudgens to jump from the Disney music behemoth High School Musical to being launched as a solo pop performer. This light, breezy slice of urban-inspired pop cleverly rips a sample from the 70’s Player classic ‘Baby Come Back,’ possibly dropped in to trigger pleasant deja vu for parents’ listening along with their kids. Hudgens is tipped to become the new pre-K Fed Britney and it’s easy to see why – this one is a guaranteed smash!
TIMBALAND – ‘Give It To Me’ (Universal) Released on CX132, DX65
Hip-hop’s unchallenged innovation machine finally steps out from behind the sounds of Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake, dragging the two along for the ride, to create his own slice of urban dancefloor excellence. Furtado takes the opening lines while Timberlake delivers the middle verse with no trace of nothing-to-prove bravado. However it’s the beat alone that leaves Timbaland in a field of his own, exhibiting talents immune to any sort of formula, delivering the rare but bankable, commercial avant guardism.

Thanks to the friendly folk at Liberation and Ivy League Records, we have five copies of Josh Pyke’s brand spanking new album – Memories & Dust - up for grabs. Pyke impressed music fans nationwide last year with his relentless touring and the release of his exceptional EP – Feeding The Wolves. To score a copy of this excellent new CD just drop us an email at music@nightlife.com.au with your name, address, your venue and the answer to this simple little question: name of one of the four Josh Pyke videos we have released in the last year.
NEWS FROM NZ FOR NZ
Well, another busy month for Nightlife NZ, however our lips are tightly sealed as we await the launch of several new features to the Nightlife HDMS™ system over the coming months. One point of specific mention is our rep, Tony Wheeler. Tony is a traveling rep, but he is in each area of the country regularly and will be trying to catch up with each of you as often as possible. If you would specifically like to see Tony sooner, simply contact our office and let them know - alternatively, our support staff, Chris and JoArna, are ready, willing and able to help with any technical or training problems by phone, so make sure you make use of them! We love to hear from you, so give us a call and let us know how things are going - and watch this space for news of our new features, coming soon!
As far as New Zealand music goes, it’s been an unusually slow period to start the year, with Brooke Fraser, Evermore, The Feelers and PNC the only artists in the Top 40 this week (Feb 26-Mar 2). However, keep a keen eye out for new releases coming soon, including new video releases from the Black Seeds and Crowded House.
This seems like a good time to remind you guys about the feedback forms - this is the white form included with each update, and is vital to ensuring that we are catering to your music tastes. Not only is it an opportunity for you to share what is working at your venue, but it also gives a chance for you to request songs. As well, depending on what you request, we can see if you are on the right update subscription; if not, we can look to take action on that and ensure that your Nightlife system is catering specifically to you. Remember to send your feedback form in each month, either by fax or email! Contact Chris at our office (phone 0508 644 485, or email chrisp@nightlife.com.au) if you have any questions or suggestions regarding this.
INTRODUCING DJ DMAK
DJ Dmak also fondly known as Donny McCurdy lives and breathes music. Being the DJ for the Brew Pub in the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino, Las Vegas has its advantages. “I love music and I love Las Vegas. Watching people react to what you’re playing is such a rush!” says Donny.
Donny has used the Nightlife system for around three years and loves it. His all time favourite song is ‘Faithfully’ by Journey and his current favourite is ‘Cupid’s Chokehold’ by Gym Class Heroes while being inspired by the work of Stevie Wonder.
His interests in movies, camping, fishing and hiking take hold when he is not busy DJing and the one person who Donny would like to meet is Seinfeld’s George Costanza, “Festivus for the rest of us!”.
At the end of the day, DJ Dmak will always go back to what he knows and loves best, his music. In his own words, “Music makes the world go round…I make the music go round.”
