IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS!
Welcome to the final Nightlife newsletter for 2006. From the team here we sincerely hope it was an enjoyable and successful year for you all, and we send our best wishes to you as the season draws close.
This year saw us make a seemingly small but, in actual fact, very significant change to our name. In becoming ‘Nightlife Music + Video’, the addition of the ‘+’ reflects the fact that we now provide customised music management systems with or without the visual impact of music video.
The development of our audio-only service has been very exciting and much of our effort throughout the company during 2006 has been devoted to preparing for its introduction. A brand new manufacturing facility has been setup, providing more than double the previous manufacturing capacity and introducing a range of new testing equipment.
The Research and Development team has developed the technical platform for the product, refining the features and ensuring rock-solid reliability. A new Sales Representative has joined us to help us better service the country, our Client Services Department has recruited new members to support our clients 24/7, and the Music Production team has again excelled in sourcing nothing but the best music from across Australia and around the globe. The final piece will fall into place early next year with the completion of three new recording studios which will help us keep pace with the continual increase to our audio-only libraries.
Of course there have been other milestones and achievements during 2006 with new products (including the release of the DJ Pro), better features, and increased service with the greatest music + videos available now delivered to your door twice a month.
Amongst this, though, there were two important numbers that stood out and those were ‘50’ and ‘1000’. The former is the number of staff we now have at Nightlife, developing, building and supporting a world-class music management system; the latter is the number of permanent clients we now provide this to across Australia. We’re immensely proud of reaching both of these significant marks, but it’s the future that’s really exciting us. It’s a new era ahead for Nightlife, and fitting that we have a new General Manager taking the helm in January to lead us into this.
To all of our clients and supporters across Australia and New Zealand, we wish you all the very best for the festive season and looking forward to continuing the journey with you in 2007.
In the meantime, it’s business as usual at Nightlife with our offices being open through the Christmas period excluding the public holidays when you can still contact our after hours emergency support crew on

NEWS FROM NZ
In keeping with last months theme of new and exciting venues, we’re proud to be associated with The Lanes, a brand new “urban bowling lounge” on Wakefield Street, Wellington.
Taking just 3 and a half months from start of construction to opening, The Lanes boast 15 electric-blue bowling lanes, plasma screens, a fully-equipped bar (with a bar top made from an old maple bowling lane), stylish black bowling shoes, pool tables, French carpet, a great food menu, and of course, Nightlife Music + Video, to create an atmosphere and venue that is the first of its kind throughout Australasia.
For entrepreneurs Grant Richardson and Regan Wood, The Lanes provided an opportunity to do something unique: bringing bowling to an unsuspecting corporate market and rebranding it as an urban adult alternative to simply going to a bar and standing around drinking. Already, the move is looking like it will pay off in a massive way.
We’re very proud to be involved with The Lanes and wish them all the best with their new endeavour!
As far as New Zealand music goes this month, Brooke Fraser and The Feelers have both made big returns back to the charts. Firstly, The Feelers hit the charts with their latest single “One World” at the start of November, and their latest album (also called One World) coming out a couple of weeks later.
At around the same time Brooke Fraser released her latest single “Deciphering Me” to great acclaim and radio play, and followed it with a stunning second album, Albertine. Combined with the recent release from the Black Seeds and (of course) Fat Freddys Drop, the Kiwi summer has never sounded so good! All these artists are available now on your HDMS™!
It is the season to be jolly, and to that end the Nightlife New Zealand office will be open as follows:
December 22nd - OPEN
December 23 to 26 - CLOSED
December 27 to 29 - OPEN
December 30 to January 2 - CLOSED
January 3 onwards - OPEN
Our EMERGENCY After Hours Service will be available outside these hours, so if you have a situation that absolutely cannot wait, call us on 0508 644 485 and we’ll do our best to help.
Until next year, we wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas, and hope you all have a great time over the Christmas period!
NIGHTLIFE'S SONGS OF 2006
Well it’s that time of year again when our Top 5 from 5 is taken over by Nightlife’s various departments! Each year for the Christmas edition of our newsletter, we list our favourite music videos for the year and 2006 is no different! Trouble is - with so many staff at Nightlife these days - we’ve had to cull it down to just 5 of the best from each department. Here are Nightlife’s Top 5 songs for the year 2006, enjoy :)
