NIGHTLIFE CELEBRATES
This month Nightlife welcomed on board its 1000th client in Australia! And what better way to celebrate than to thank all the people who helped make this a reality.

Directors Mark and Vicki Brownlee and Tim DeSouza have always been passionate about growing the company through its people and have looked upon staff as the key resource in making Nightlife a success. Over time Nightlife has built a product that supports a variety of clientele including cafes, bars, restaurants, casinos, pubs, clubs, hotels, retail, fitness and amusement centres.
Our overseas partners are well on the road to experiencing high growth with 170 clients in New Zealand and 270 clients in the USA.
The Directors acknowledge that the organisation’s past and future growth is reliant on building its people and therefore provides a commitment to life balance, health, career development, recognition of contributions and employee incentives.
NEWS FROM NZ
Congratulations must go out to DB Breweries for their recent initiative in hosting and sponsoring world-renowned speaker Jon Taffer at the Hospitality Show, held recently in Auckland. Speakers of this quality are seldom seen on these shores; it’s the golfing equivalent of getting Tiger Woods to the Saturday morning scramble.
The man was - put simply - inspiring. The trick for those who were fortunate enough to attend is to now create an action plan to bring in to affect his proven ideas and tactics. From a Nightlife point of view it was encouraging to hear Taffer make reference to the importance of such things as:
- evenly distributing acoustical volume ensuring the brain does not tire from
bad sound
- the role of video and in house advertising; utilising HTML’s etc
- the importance of understanding beats per minute “ranging” when building
playlists
This on top of a whole plethora of practical, leading edge innovative ideas made for a mind boggling session. So credit again to DB Breweries and the personnel involved in such a coup.
Also this month, our very own Chris Philpott attended the 41st Annual NZ Music Awards. Big winners on this glitzy and glamourous night included Bic Runga and Fat Freddys Drop, with 4 and 2 awards respectively and with acts like Dave Dobbyn and Elemeno P also picking up awards. Chris says “filled with crazy musicians and crazy antics, the NZ Music Awards were as good as any awards ceremony I’ve ever seen, and honoured our musicians the way they deserve! Good on you, NZ On Air!”
Lastly, a note to all our venues: keep your feedback coming in, BUT ALSO please include your website address and logo, as we would love to be able to link you to our website!
INTRODUCING DJ RUSSEL
Welcome to Manhattan Superbowl, the ultimate bowling experience that can take you back to the fun and funk of the 60’s with Retro Manhattan at Mascot or transport you to a galaxy light years away with Starship Manhattan Liverpool.
The man behind the music is none other than DJ Louis, aka Louis Vella. A Sales Manager by day and DJ to the Manhattan Superbowl chain by night, DJ Louis credits his love of music for getting him into DJing. “I wanted to share my music with my friends, family and everybody else who wanted to listen” he says. Starting in pubs and moving onto clubs, reception lounges and places of interest, DJ Louis has made his mark in the Sydney scene.
Louis loves to be behind the scenes in TV, movies, stage shows as well as being a movie extra to get the vibe of the industry and to meet people with great imagination and creation. With this said, it makes perfect sense that Louis wants to meet Michael Crawford, “because he sounds like a very interesting person who has done comedy and then to be Phantom in the Phantom of the Opera” he says.
DJing with the Nightlife HDMS™ for 5 years has helped DJ Louis with his music endeavours. His all time favourite song is ‘Eye of the Tiger’ by Survivor and his current fave song is ‘I don’t Feel Like Dancing’ by the Scissor Sisters. Elton John takes the cake as DJ Louis’ favourite artist.
