Aussie Artist Review
What would immediately come to mind if four Aussie blokes got together to play music? Rock n’ roll? Maybe not - not as far as Human Nature are concerned anyway. These “four Aussie blokes” wanted to sing, so they formed Australia’s most successful vocal group. This is a huge rap for a bunch of real talented guys, who have definitely not fallen short of success.

It all started when three high school mates, Toby Allen, Phil Burton and Andrew Tierney teamed up with Michael Tierney, Andrew’s younger brother, way back in 1989. The boys’ love for singing and music, and their participation in the schools’ choir, drove them to form a singing group called “The 4trax”.

After winning a ‘Star Search’ competition, The 4trax performed live around Sydney for a few years and eventually decided to pursue their original music, and hunt for a record deal. At this point, they changed their name to “Human Nature” and were signed on the spot by Sony Music, after a live audition.

In 1996, their debut single, “Got It Goin’ On”, was released, with instant success. In January 1997, Human Nature’s debut album, “Tellin’ Everybody”, peaked nationally in the Top 10, eventually achieving 3 x platinum status, selling over 210,000 albums. The title track from this album, which became their second single, stayed in the charts for over 18 months! Quite an achievement. Following the success of their debut album, they were granted the honour of being the support act for Michael Jackson and Celine Dion, then they embarked on their first national tour.

Success became even more prolific when Human Nature released their second album in 1999. “Counting Down” went straight to number one, resulting in the second of their three successful, sell-out national tours.

Their third album, self-titled, was released in 2000, and contained the single “He Don’t Love You”, which peaked at number 4 nationally. In 2001, Human Nature released a greatest hits album.

“Walk The Tightrope”, their fifth album, blends soulful dance tracks with sensitive ballads, and even contains a previously unreleased Bee Gees song, especially given to Human Nature by Barry Gibb. Their new single, “When You Say You Love Me”, written by Darren Hayes, is out now - check it out on CR97.

May New Releases

It’s May! How fast does the time fly when you’re having fun? Once again our updates are chock-a-block full of hits. Check these out...

Already sitting comfortably in the American Billboard Top 5 is ex-gospel producer/now R&B superstar Mario Winans with his hot new single I Don’t Wanna Know. It wasn't the obvious choice for the first single from his second album Hurt No More, but radio programmers and DJs gravitated towards it when it appeared on mixtapes, so Bad Boy had no choice but to release it officially. The track features the rap skills of P. Diddy and samples the awesome beat from Enya's moody Boadicea. The Fugees used the same beat a few years ago for their now classic track Ready or Not. Play it now from CR98.

German native Sarah Conner admits that there are three S's which dominate her life - soul, sex, and sensuality. It's these three ingredients that she blends perfectly to create her unique musical sound. Beginning as a gospel singer, it was being handpicked to perform alongside Michael Jackson at age 17 that convinced Sarah to turn to pop music. She already has a platinum album in Germany and now with her self-titled debut she delivers a blend of new soul, R&B and hip-hop. Bounce is the first single from this album and one listen will tell you that it is a perfect pop radio single. Have your listen from CR98.

… And the award for video of the month goes to Basement Jaxx with their outstanding new clip for Plug It In. The UK dance duo continue to rip up the rule book and team up with twisted Swedes Traktor to deliver another “experiment gone wrong” themed video with a similar feel to the monkey madness in 2001’s Where’s Your Head At. The song is the third killer single to be lifted from the duo’s third album Kish Kash and features the pop punk hollering of N-Sync’s JC Chasez. This track has all the makings of a classic Jaxx assault on the dancefloors and our musical subconscious. Play it now from CR98.
He’s gone through multiple name changes and experimented with almost every genre of music but there is no denying that Prince is a deadset genius. Musicology is his latest track featured here and is as funky, fresh and frisky as the Prince we know and love from the mid-80’s. The song is the title track from his absolutely superb latest album, which is a return to the funk genius of his strongest albums. This will undoubtedly return him to the top of the pop tree. Get funky right now on CRX98!

The audio only bonus for HDMS™ users this month is the Black Eyed Peas’ awesome standout track from their Elephunk album called Let’s Get Retarded. Hopefully the Peas will be releasing a new mix of the track - Let’s Get It Started - as a single in mid June. This version is currently being used as a commercial sound bed for the NBA in the US. As we’ve had approximately a squillion requests for it, we thought we’d release an audio only version to tide you over until the single is released. Aren’t we nice!!

DJ Carlos - Greenbank RSL - Brisbane.
Sensations Nightclub is where DJ Carlos controls the dancefloor with the HDMS™ and creates a sensational experience for clubbers within the walls of one of the largest Clubs in the country, Greenbank RSL, just south of Brisbane.

Aged 19 years, student Carl Gunness is into 3D animation, compositing, SFX, mixing and drumming. In fact, it was while Carl was doing a spot of mixing at a multi-media course that he was discovered by a DJ company. This sparked his passion to a point where he now lives to mix and entertain a large audience.

Carl's song of the moment is Straight Ahead (Geradeaus), with Punk by Ferry Corsten being fave song of all time. Favourite artist is Paul Van Dyke, and would most like to meet Carl Cox. “His experience and compassion for music just blow me away. His sets are flawless and structured to drive a dance floor.”

Warning This Song Has Been Played Already!
This function is mainly used in AUTOMATIC_DJ and MANUAL_DJ. This function notifies the user if a song has been played within in a certain period of time. This function is useful if there is a change of shift with DJs, it can tell them if the song has already been played that night. It can give various time warnings between 1 and 10 hours.

To change the warning time on your system you will need to go to the Utilities menu and arrow down to No Warning. To add a warning time press [Enter] on the No Warning option and it will go up in hourly segments, eg. Warn if Played within 2 Hr. To change the warning time down, hold [Shift] down and press [Enter] and it will decrease the warning time in hourly segments eg. Warn if Played within 1 Hr. If you do not want to use this option set it to No Warning

News From NZ

We've gotta say the feedback sheets have been rumbling in and that really is a great big help. The results show for themselves as we nail the RIANZ Top 40 and source the right Kiwi content for you. Some of the comments are excellent too, for instance, "We get a VERY mixed crowd. They like everything from Rock/Alternative through to Pop, R & B and Hip Hop." Doesn't this sound familiar?!

This month's gift voucher goes to Steveo at The Ranch Cafe, not because he DJs in one of our most remote locations, Te Anau (Tea Are Now for you Aussies reading this), but because he has faxed us 3 times. By the way Te Anau is in the deep south surrounded by pristine rainforest and occasionally some local (probably one of Steveo's punters) reckons they've spotted a Moa.

BTW, that's a bird, not something you start up on a Sunday!

PS: Special thanks to the programming team at Nightlife for making the NZX happen.
