Casinos.... we're on a roll!
From Burswood Casino in Perth and Crown Casino in Melbourne, to the Monte Carlo Casino in Las Vegas, Nightlife’s HDMS™ is getting the ‘heads up’! Casino’s such as Wrest Point Hobart, Country Club Resort in Launceston, Jupiters in Townsville, Reef Hotel Casino Cairns, Lasseters in Alice Springs, Conrad Treasury Brisbane and Conrad Jupiters on the Gold Coast are all “on a roll” with Nightlife.

Here’s what Crown Casino’s Food & Beverage Manager, Bruce Harbert, says about the HDMS: “For us here at Crown it’s all about control and, in my opinion, Nightlife's HDMS™ is the most effective music management system I have ever used. We use the system in numerous outlets from fine dining like Number 8 and the cool funky lounges of Tonic and The Pub, to the party areas like Sports Bar where we are able to set the tone of the room and react to crowd changes. With the HDMS™ we can look back over a log of the last 2000 songs played and monitor what is going on in each of the outlets.

“Nightlife makes sure that our supervisors are fully trained and that they have the type of music that their outlet needs. I can't speak highly enough of the back up service and support. In short, I wouldn’t dream of opening a venue today without Nightlife's HDMS!”

Think Las Vegas, think casino capital of the world, and thanks to exposure at the Las Vegas Nightclub & Bar Show for three years running, Nightlife is “on a roll” in this amazing city too. Of the three major casinos already using the HDMS™, one of the most prominent is Monte Carlo Resort and Casino on Las Vegas Boulevard. It’s a charming Mediterranean style destination and features one of Las Vegas' hottest night spots, the Monte Carlo Pub & Brewery.

Along with our American partners, ScreenPlay Inc, and Nightlife New Zealand, we once again scooped the pool at this year’s Nightclub & Bar Show with interest in our HDMS™ running ace high! More than 35,000 people attended the show held over three days in March at the enormous Las Vegas Convention Centre. Nightlife’s display stand, which has doubled in size since 2001, was one of 1500 exhibits covering every conceivable area of need for setting up a club, bar or restaurant.

April New Releases

Fresh from her controversial ‘wardrobe malfunction’ and the release of her brand new album Damita Jo (her middle name), comes the latest single from Janet Jackson called Just A Little While. Penned by Janet and ubiquitous songwriter Dallas Austin, the song is a nice little guitar infused pop track that will lodge itself in your head for ages. DJs will also lap up the bonus audio only Maurice’s NuSoul remix offered to our HDMS™ clients. Both versions were released two weeks ago on CRX97.

Also released two weeks ago was the song that is currently on everyone’s lips, not only for its explicit content, but for its extreme catchiness. The song is, of course, F**k It (I Don’t Want You Back) from R&B’s latest star Eamon. The 19 year old Staten Island native has obviously had his fair share of heartbreak and expresses this openly on his debut single and album, also called I Don’t Want You Back. CRX97 features the full uncut version, while the censored version is on ED97.

Still on new music, but this time on the local front... dreamshifter are five very passionate and experienced musicians from NSW who are currently promoting their new DVD called More Real. The guys are set to take Australia by storm after achieving a world-first in issuing a 7 track live DVD as their debut release. Hear their fresh new sound and watch their video from RD97.

It’s official! Million selling dance duo Madison Avenue have split, citing creative differences over recordings for their new album. The Frankston duo Andy Van and Cheyne Coates put Australian dance music on the map back in 1999 with their global smash Don’t Call Me Baby. Vocalist Cheyne has now dropped her surname and released the sassy debut solo single called I’ve Got Your Number. Former Psuedo Echo frontman Brian Canham lends his songwriting hand and mixing skills to her forthcoming album to give it that ‘retro 80’s’ feel. Check out Cheyne’s track on CR97.
Take cover! Eminem and his Detroit crew D12 are back with the track My Band. The first single in two years from D12 is produced by Eminem himself and is the first to be lifted from the forthcoming album D12 World. The track actually features all six members and is accompanied by a hilarious video which takes on the story of a band who are overshadowed by their frontman. This surely has to break the record for the most costume changes in one music video. Count them on CR97.

HDMS™ users will once again notice you have received some audio only bonuses with your updates this month. In addition to the Janet track mentioned above, you have remixes of the latest George Michael single Amazing and Anastacia’s latest Left Outside Alone. Please note, you also have music videos for the original versions. You want more? Well there’s no steak knives included but we have also added an audio only of Since You’ve Been Gone, the latest single lifted from Powderfinger’s awesome album, Vulture Street.

DJ KRONIK - Chistchurch - NZ.
The Holy Grail in the heart of Christchurch is one of the biggest and best sports bars of its type in the Southern Hemisphere and is where DJ Kronik, aka Nicholas Bailey has been pumping out the tunes with Nightlife for the last 3½ years. With 9 years of Nightlife experience under his belt, Nick certainly knows how to keep the huge crowds that congregate on all levels of the Holy Grail entertained with video clips on the gigantic 10 metre screen.

Nick found it impossible to name his favourite song of all time, but lists current fave as Scribe – Not Many. Michael Jackson, once again gets the vote for fave artist, and Cleopatra, in Nick’s opinion, is the most beautiful person ever, and whom he would most like to have had the opportunity to meet.

News From NZ

Congratulations to Karen from World of Fitness in Dunedin. Karen sent in a very constructive DJ feedback sheet, and is this month’s winner. Thanks also to Lizard, one of Auckland’s greatest party DJs who featured in the DJ profile on this page a couple of month’s ago. If you’re ever visiting Auckland, check out Lizard in action at The London Shed – he’s sure to have the place rockin’.

Remember that, with Daylight Saving, the clock does not change automatically on the HDMS™. Go to Utilities and Set Date & Time to get your Scheduler back on track.

During March we joined ScreenPlay Inc at the Las Vegas Nightclub & Bar Show, which is the world’s largest expo for the hospitality industry. It confirmed that Nightlife is still the only fully programmed music video solution in the world, and as we got the opportunity to chat with around 300 bar owners, it was interesting to hear them say that music is the key component of their venue.

Every one of them could clearly see the importance of being able to program music in Scheduler, as well as the value of utilising screens for advertising. And, of course, that it enables DJs to play the right sort of music to attract and keep the crowds.
