August New Releases
The Black Eyed Peas are back with their 3rd and funkiest album Elephunk. will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo and newcomer Fergie are joined here by Justin Timberlake and sing for peace on the superb Where Is The Love? We released the tune two weeks ago on CRX89.

Getting together for the first time since their Mickey Mouse Club days, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera are touring the U.S. And simultaneously releasing their 4th singles from their recent albums.

From his debut solo album Justified, Justin releases the infectious, sing-along Neptunes produced joint, Senorita. From Stripped, Christina presents her girl-power anthem, Can’t Hold Us Down featuring the rap skills of Lil’ Kim. Check out both tracks from CR89.

UK trio Kosheen return this month with All In My Head, the first single to be released from their highly anticipated forthcoming album, Kokopelli. It’s plain from the first bar that Kosheen have changed and this song will show you how. Obviously influenced by their touring of late, Sian and the boys have taken a step away from their drum ‘n’ bass roots and adopted a rawer, live feel. They still manage to keep this track as catchy as ever. Don’t just take my word for it... play it from CR89.

Remember Mya? This month on CR89 she shows her face (and a bit more) for the first time since 2001’s collabo on Lady Marmalade with Christina, Pink and Lil’ Kim. My Love Is Like... Wo is the sexy single and sexier new video from her 3rd album entitled Moodring. Missy Elliott lends her songwriting abilities as well as her sought after production skills to the tune.

Last year he bragged about inventing the remix, but this year P. Diddy has put together a who’s who of Hiphop and RnB to produce the soundtrack of the year, Bad Boys II. The first surefire smash to be released from this, sees Diddy teaming up with Nelly and Murphy Lee on Shake Ya Tailfeather. It’s not a cover of the old Blues Brothers track but is very funky and sure to be flooding airwaves and firing dancefloors in no time. It’s on CR89.

When you look past the busted windscreens, the headlines and the celebrity girlfriend and focus on their music you realise that Coldplay remain one of the best bands in the world right now. A fine example of this is God Put A Smile On Your Face, the 3rd single from the number 1 multi-platinum masterpiece A Rush Of Blood To The Head. Play it on RD89.

Following the funkiness that was their last single Train, Goldfrapp unleash Strict Machine, the latest lifted from their Black Cherry album. Once again they deliver a stomping, glam rocked up, electronic pop gem and we release it this month on both CR89 and RD89.

Duncan James is the freshest face in Aussie music at the moment. Growing up in Brisbane Duncan recalls his earliest musical inspiration... standing on his Dad’s car bonnet with binoculars watching a David Bowie concert from the carpark. “It was one of those moments that kinda changed everything for me”. This month on ED89 we release The Speed Of Life, the debut single and title track from his forthcoming album.

DJ Tony - Party At the Redwood Hotel - Christchurch, NZ.
The Redwood Hotel is one of the largest suburban venues in Christchurch and DJ Tony Woolcott has the main bar pumping every Fri and Sat night to a mixture of party music and Top 40. The Redwood is a popular stop for mystery bus trips and these bring a mixture of work groups, hens nights, 18th, 21st & 40th birthday groups which, together with a good local crowd, make for some great party nights.

Tony runs his own business as a Music Agent/Promoter, and has been DJing at the Redwood for 8 years – he reckons it’s the best way to meet chicks and make money at the same time!

Fave song of all time: The First Cut Is The Deepest - Rod Stewart and fave artist: Eric Clapton. The one person in the world he’d most like to meet is Robert Kiyosaki… “to get some financial tips”. Dream Car: Lamborghini. Meanwhile has to content himself with a Nissan Maxima.

Technically Speaking - BILLBOARDS MADE EASY
Following on from last month’s column on billboards advertising, there are some simple steps you can take to ensure that all goes smoothly when importing a new billboard onto the Nightlife system.

When creating a Windows bitmap or jpeg on your own graphics package for importing onto the Nightlife billboards program, the specifications must be as follows:

File Size: Maximum 640 pixels wide x 480 pixels high

File Name: xxxxxxxx.bmp/jpg
ie: no more than 8 characters.bmp/jpg

Keep the name simple with letters and numbers only. If the file name is more than 8 characters, the Nightlife system will automatically delete the extra characters. If you have several billboards to import and they all start with the same 8 characters, eg: nightlifemonday.bmp and nightlifetuesday.bmp, and the billboards program has to truncate them, you will end up with the same file names eg: nightlif.bmp. The system will not be able to distinguish between the two.

When creating multiple bitmaps or jpegs, individually save them directly onto the floppy disk or CD-ROM. Do not put them in a folder before saving. The billboards program is looking only for .bmp and .jpg files and will not be able to read your folder.

If you are familiar with your graphics package, there is no limit to the billboards advertisements your imagination can dream up.

Don’t forget, we are here on 1800 773 468 to answer any of your questions, big or small, about the Nightlife system and its many capabilities.
